Description: Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) letter, stamped envelope and autograph to friend and water colorist Sir Frederic William Burton (1816-1900), dated 20 Nov 1863.
Stationary is embossed 16 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea (where he was banned from keeping peacocks due to the noise). Envelope addressed to F.W. Burton, Esq, 43 Argyle Road, Kensington, stamped London S.W.

Rossetti was an English painter and poet who helped found the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, a group of painters treating religious, moral, and medieval subjects in a nonacademic manner.

Burton was a watercolor painter and art administrator. Appointed director of the National Gallery 1874 and knighted in 1884. Died 43 Argyle Road, Kensington.
