"Old Abe" eagle 2pc group: 1865 cartes de viste cabinet card of The new picture of eagle" with a 1921 counter stamped Morgan silver dollar for the 1978 Eau Claire, Wis coin show.
"The new picture of the eagle." Created/Published: May 30, 1865 - Chicago, Illinois by Sewell & Spalding. Image of eagle roosting on an image of a shield with stars and stripes. These cartes de viste were sold for the benefit of the 1865 Great Sanitary Fair in Chicago. Old Abe was an eagle mascot carried by the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, which belonged to the Iron Brigade.
