New Ripley Auctions Stories Series: Meet our Buyers
We’re excited to welcome you to a new Ripley Auctions Stories series: Meet our Buyers!
In this monthly series, we’ll be shining the spotlight on one of our buyers, where they’ll tell us a little about themselves, how they became involved with Ripley Auctions, why buying art is important to them and how it has the power to shape our communities.
For our inaugural story, we feature Indianapolis educator, Leona.
What drew you to bid with us/ buy from us? Tell us about how you became involved with Ripley Auctions.
I admired fine artwork, antiques, and vintage items for as long as I can remember. While redecorating my condo, I started looking for artwork and decorative items that complemented the pieces I already owned. Since my interior design style is defined as eclectically curated, I scrolled through the internet for auction houses in the greater Indianapolis area that sold upscaled vintage and modern art. My bank account and I quickly discovered Ripley Auctions was the perfect auction house.
Favorite item(s) purchased and why? What types of art/ items are you drawn to?
Although I love all my collected pieces of artwork and vintage & antique furniture, an abstract painting by Mae Alice Engron is my favorite. For more than three decades I have desired one of her paintings. -It is pictured in the third photo.
Why is buying art important to you?
History is not just the series of past events, but the stories and character of a community. Fine art in its various forms embodies the exceptionalism of the human experience by a group of people. When you buy these pieces of artwork and history, you preserve humanity in one of its most illustrious forms. I believe this is why art evokes passion within its creators and admirers.
