A collection of unpublished manuscripts, poetry and drawings by Harriet Evatt; Included is a typed version of "Juanita", which was dedicated to William S. Evatt, along with hand-written notes; thirteen illustrations, many of which were created for Juanita; short stories "The Garden" and "Chastina"; some of which may be incomplete.

Harriet Torrey Evatt 'Harriet Evatt' began her career as a painter of portraits, still lifes and landscapes. She studied art at the Columbus School of Fine Arts and was a long time resident of Southern Ohio.

Beginning around 1940, however, Harriet Torrey Evatt began the most famous part of her artistic endeavors as both a major author and illustrator of children's books. Over the next twenty-five years she wrote and illustrated such fiction as, Suzette's Family (1941), The Mystery of the Creaking Windmill (1945), The Mystery of the Old Merchant's House (1947), The Mystery of the Alpine Castle (1951), The Secret of the Singing Tower (1953), The Papoose Who Wouldn't Keep her Stockings On (1954), Secret of the Old Coach Inn (1959), You Can't Keep a Squirrel on the Ground (1961), An Army in Pigtails (1962), The Mystery of the Lonesome Manor (1962), and The Secret of the Solitary Cove (1964). largest: 11 7/8" x 9 1/8"

After you are the successful bidder we will send you an invoice which will include your shipping charges. For your protection, full insurance is required and will be included in your charges. We strive to provide you with a professional job at a reasonable price. When your item is shipped you will be furnished with online tracking information for your package.

OVERSIZE ITEMS OR SPECIAL PACKAGING: To streamline the process for our customers, we will contact the shippers after the auction, add the shipping charges to your invoice and bill you for the entire balance due. You will then pay Antique Helper and we will arrange for pickup and delivery of your auction items with the preferred shipper below.
