From the artist's obituary: Sundell was born in New York City in 1913. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in northern France. He wrote cowboy stories for pulp westerns and was involved in the early days of comic books as a writer and editor. He was a magazine editor, an artist, and founder and manager of Offset Color Separations. He grew up in Brooklyn, brought up his family in Freeport, Long Island, and then moved into Manhattan. After retiring, he spent summers and winters in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and worked full time on his multimedia canvasses, which were exhibited in one-man shows in New York, Mexico, and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
