Biography from Outer Cape Auctions: Agnes Weinrich, (1873-1946) was born in Burlington, Iowa in 1873. She studied with French Cubist, Albert Gleizes, in Berlin, Paris and Rome and with Charles Hawthorne and Blanche Lazzell in Provincetown. She organized and directed the New York Society of Women Painters (the first women's painters association in America) in the 1920s, and was a founder of the Modernist Movement at the Provincetown Artists Association. She exhibited in museums in Washington DC, Boston, New York City, etc. Her work is highly sought after because she was one of the earliest American Modernist artists. She lived with the Karl Knaths' in Provincetown until her death in 1946.

Agnes Weinrich worked as a painter and woodblock printer in New York City and Provincetown. She came from a prosperous Iowa farm family, an advantage which later allowed her to make contact with the New York art world. She was a good friend of Peggy Guggenheim.
