Camille Hilaire
French, (1916-2004)
Trotters
color lithograph
Pencil signed lower right, artist's proof.

Biography from Accademia Fine Art: French painter born in Metz, Camille Hilaire worked at "L'école des Beaux-Arts" in Paris and in free Academies, particularly André Lhote's, which had a determinent influence on him. He obtained many prizes and rewards: State travel exhibition, 1947. Venice prize, 1949, Astral prize, 1950; Casa Velasquez prize, 1950; Society Art Amateur prize, 1958.

Hilaire participated in numerous exhibition groups, as autumn art, the Independents, May, the Tuileries, of painters witness of their time, etc. Between post-cubism and figuration, his works with bright colors, are luminous. Camille Hilaire represents the nuanced expression of the composition. Thus, starting from effective structures, he holds the power through color and obtains an admirable and constant sensation of calm, of amplitude, of grandeur by translating the motives and the elements, which never prevents him from expressing a burning passion of creation and sharing.

Remarkable are his nudes with perfect curves, coiled with charm and placed in an environment where their sensual fullness imposes itself in provocative grace. As for the landscapes, Camille Hilaire knows how to dictate their structure without apparent constraint, depositing in them this fresh and piquant green that often characterizes him. Thus, nature and elements become a pretext where the artist pushes the color until obtaining the effect felt. As for the tapestries, all of his graphic design skills and his desire to research are combined in splendid works that constantly appeal to the eye thanks to their technical success of pure harmony and that represent the artist just as well as his lithographs, of an astonishing outcome.
