Artist's Statement: I've been painting for over 28 years but I began my career as a Graphic Designer. Years ago my work was tightly realistic but after a few years I began expressing myself thru abstraction and never looked back. I still paint realistic images from time to time just as an exercise to keep me on track. However, I've found abstraction to be a sanctuary in which I can communicate so many things without exposing myself completely. Each painting tells a story so I refer to them as Abstract Narratives. I've painted "Stone Stacks" as a metaphor for life's balance and support of one another and political pieces such as "Dorothy.. We're Not in Kansas Anymore" which I painted right after 9/11. "Ninth Ward" was painted after hurricane Katrina, "Pray for Peace" after being at war with Iraq after many years. The paintings become a sort of diary for me. My work is a part of private and corporate collections throughout the United States as well as in Europe and Japan. I often times find myself in conversations with people wanting to take their own leap of faith into the arts but have questions about how to do it. I'm there to encourage and support anyone looking for answers. I believe that the more art there is the better!
