MAKER: Earrings: Hans Hansen, signed "Denmark Sterling" with Hans Hansen mark.
Hans Hansen (1884-1940),was the founder of the Hans Hansen firm which became known for superb Scandinavian modernist jewelry design. He was born in 1884, and started his workshop in 1906 on the Jutland Peninsula in Denmark. He made mostly hollowware until he was successful enough to take a chance with starting a line of jewelry.
Necklace, signed at clasp on sterling tag. Eigil Jensen (1917-2002) trained
with the Hans Hansen silversmithy and designed for Georg Jensen. He worked for Anton Michelsen as a silversmith and production manager from 1943 to 1983. Anton Michelsen (1809–1877) established his own company in Copenhagen in 1841. He became the royal jeweler, and exhibited at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1855. After his death, the company was run by his son and grandson. The company worked with many notable designers including Arnold Krog, Thorvald Bindesbøll, Arne Bang and Edvard Kindt-Larsen.
