Biography from the Archives of askART: Kenneth Forman was an American artist and arts educator active in Connecticut and worked as a professor at The University of Connecticut. As an artist he became inactive late in life due to blindness. He was working primarily in Modernist and Abstract styles.

Early life – Kenneth Forman was born June 5, 1925 in Landour, India while his parents were working as missionaries. Prior to attending college he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. He studied at Wittenburg College in Springfield, Ohio, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1950, and Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, graduating with a Masters of Art in Painting in 1951.

Experience –
U.S. Navy, service in Marshall Islands and Japan, 1944-46; summer of painting in San Miguel Allende, Mexico, 1952; summer of painting in Spain, 1953; summer of travel in France and Italy, 1957; sabbatical leave painting in England and studying Victorian architecture, 1968; sabbatical leave in England and Scotland studying industrial architecture, 1974; Yale Visiting Faculty Fellowship, 1979; served three terms on the Historical District Commission, Town of Mansfield, CT; sabbatical leave in London studying post-modern architecture, 1987; Professor of Art and American Architecture 1951-1989 (Associate Department Head, 1979).

Submitted by Paul Russ whose primary source of information was from an exhibition catalogue of The William Benton Musuem of Art in Storrs, CT. for a show called "Kenneth Forman, 4 Decades: Paintings, Prints and Drawings". The show ran in the spring of 1992.
