In 1908, he settled in Paris and joined the artists of Montparnasse. He met Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Jean Cocteau, Amedeo Modigliani and Pablo Picasso, among others. He also befriended Henri Matisse, and was inspired by his works. In 1912, he joined the group of artists ‘Section d'Or, which included famous artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Juan Gris and Francis Picabia. In 1912 to 1913, he created abstract color compositions that were influenced by movies. Furthermore, he made goblins and tapestries, illustrated books, and designed sets and costumes.
