Biography from LisaEtre.com: Lisa Etre, Virgin Islander since childhood, portrays what she knows and loves best: the natural beauty of the Virgin Islands and native Virgin Islanders.
In 1962, at the age of seven, Ms. Lisa Etre became a resident of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. She later graduated from American University in Washington D.C. in 1975 with a BA in art and traveled and studied in Mexico and South America. Lisa attended Instituto Allende, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico to continue studying painting and printmaking.

In 1980, Lisa sailed to St. John on her sister's 40 foot sailboat and she lived aboard the vessel for six months before finding a residence in Rendezvous Bay, St. John.

In 1983, Lisa left St. John to pursue a master's degree at The University of New Mexico and returned to an art teaching position in public education. Lisa retired from the VI Department of Education in 2013 after 30 years teaching art at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School where she held the Chairpersons position.

Side by side with her teaching career, Lisa continued to develop her artistic expressions. Her colorful graphic gouches, beautiful oils of island scenes, bright watercolors and attractive giftware items are known throughout the Caribbean.

She was one of the original partners in the well-loved shop, Pink Papaya, in Cruz Bay where her artwork is still available. Her art is also available in Cruz Bay at Bajo el Sol Gallery, Friends of VINP Store, and displayed at Cruz Bay Realty. In Coral Bay, her art is available at St. John Pottery. She has been published in Islands magazine, illustrated for Simon & Schuster's ‘One White Sail' and was a featured artist on the set of the Bill Cosby Show.
