Biography from Lesley Heller Gallery: Sara Sosnowy (b.1957, Texas City, TX) is known for her paintings featuring repetitive abstract patterns in bold color. Her paintings have a strong sense of movement and tendency to engulf the canvas surface with a sense of depth and infinity. Sosnowy received an MFA at Pratt Institute (1989) in Brooklyn after obtaining her BFA at Stephen F. Austin State University (1981). She has been awarded an Honorarium at The Drawing Center in New York, NY (1994), a Fifth Floor Foundation Grant in New York (1999), and a Mid Atlantic Art Foundation Fellowship, Baltimore (1996).

She has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including the Museum of East Texas, Lufkin, TX; John Wber Gallery, Project Room, New York; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT. Her work is in many prominent public and corporate collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University Art Museums; Yale University Art Gallery and RAND Corperation.Her work has been presented international venues such as the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Esteban Vicente in Segovia (2009), the Davis Museum and Cultural Center at Wellesley College (2004), and the Drawing Center (1999) and White Columns (1997) in New York. Sosnowy is currently based in New York City.
