Biography from the Archives of askART: The following biography is based on information provided to AskART.com by Sherry Gerhartz:

Steve Gerhartz (1971-present) is currently residing in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. After attending the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut, Steve Gerhartz moved back to Wisconsin to begin a full-time career in the art field. He currently works on portraits, still-life, and landscapes for gallery shows in a number of Midwestern galleries including Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, and Ohio. Gerhartz is working with other galleries across the United States as well.

Growing up outside a small Wisconsin town, he has been inspired by nature all of his life. This inspiration and his ability to capture the realism of the subject is displayed in his paintings. In the past five years Steve has also received two sculpture commissions. One of the commissions was for
the Historical Society of West Bend, WI. This sculpture, a war memorial, is of four bronzed busts which represent four branches of the service. He has also filled other private sculpture commissions.

In 1992, Gerhartz was the recipient of the Stobbart Foundation Award, that provided financial aid to artists changing from student to professional status.
