The Prest-O-Lite Trophy, first presented at the 1909 Indianapolis Motor Speedway; The Prest-O-Lite Trophy, first presented at the 1909 Indianapolis Motor Speedway 250 mile Prest-O-Lite 250 mile feature race, won by Bob Burman; Composed of the cast silver feature mountings from the original composition, which may have originally been afixed to a brick form, now mounted on a wooden plaque.
Nine engraved silvered plaques commemorate winners and various driving accomplishments, such as lap leaders, from 1910-1940. The last plaque stating; "Presented to Wilbur Shaw permanently for winning two consecutive 500 mile races, 1939-1940."
Prest-O-Lite Trophy awarded to Wilbur Shaw in 1932, 1937, 1939-1940 and retired to Shaw in 1940.
The Prest-O-Lite Trophy Race was an automobile race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in each of the two years prior to the first Indianapolis 500. The trophy was sponsored by the Prest-O-Lite Company, a manufacturer of automotive lighting systems. Carl Fisher and James Allison, two of the four co-founders of the Speedway, were also two of the three co-founders of Prest-O-Lite.
