Joseph Van Sickle (American, b. early 20th century), Cubist Hoe Down, oil on canvas, 6' by 9', signed lower left and dated 1954. Abstract modern painting of good ol' fashioned Indiana hoe-down. Van Sickle studied at Herron School of Art and graduated in 1943. He later was the director of fine art at the Watkind Institute in Nashville, TN.
